- Put out a few, not many — a tray with one inviting activity beats a stack
- Let them touch and move the pieces — the hands do the learning
- Follow the child — if it isn’t landing today, quietly put it away and try in a month

Are worksheets good for preschoolers?
In moderation, and only the hands-on kind. Young children learn through touching, moving, and doing — cut-and-match cards or tray activities serve them far better than sit-down worksheet packets.
What printables do I actually need for preschool?
Very few. A set of cards you print once and use all year (sounds, numbers, routines) covers most of it. Real objects from around your home do the rest.
Do I need to laminate them?
It helps if you’ll reuse them all year, but it’s optional. Card stock alone works fine — and using what you already have is always a valid path.
