One day, a crafty wolf found himself growing tired of chasing sheep. Determined to fill his belly without trouble, he hatched a clever plan.
He slipped into the fields at twilight and found a soft, woolly fleece of a sheep lying abandoned on a wooden post. With a cunning grin, the wolf draped it over his body, carefully disguising himself.
Covered in the stolen wool, he casually wandered into the flock. None of the sheep noticed anything unusual; he blended right in among them, patiently waiting for nightfall when he could devour them without fuss.
As the sun set, the shepherd returned from the fields to gather his flock. Feeling hungry himself, the shepherd selected one of the sheep for his evening meal. Reaching out his hand, he unknowingly seized the disguised wolf by the scruff, thinking it the plumpest sheep in the bunch.
Only too late did the wolf realize his mistake. With a swift swing of his crook, the shepherd ended the wolf’s trickery forever.
